1. Purpose and Scope
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of the Althera Connect website, platform, applications and related services (collectively, the “Platform”) by:
- visitors browsing the Platform without an account;
- individuals who create a client account;
- individuals who request appointments or submit reviews through the Platform.
In these Terms, all such persons are referred to as the “User”.
By accessing the Platform, creating an account or using any Platform feature, the User acknowledges that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
If the User does not agree, they must not create an account or use the relevant Platform services.
2. Nature of the Platform
Althera Connect operates as:
- a digital directory of professionals;
- a visibility and information platform;
- a technical interface connecting clients with professionals;
- a platform through which registered Users may request appointments and submit reviews.
Althera Connect is not:
- a healthcare provider;
- a medical, psychological or therapeutic practice;
- an emergency or crisis service;
- the employer, representative, partner or agent of any listed professional.
Althera Connect does not itself provide medical, psychological, therapeutic, coaching or other professional services.
The Platform acts as an independent technical intermediary.
3. No Medical or Professional Advice
All content available on the Platform is provided for general informational purposes only.
Nothing published on or communicated through the Platform constitutes:
- medical advice;
- psychological or therapeutic advice;
- a diagnosis;
- a treatment recommendation;
- a substitute for consultation with a suitably qualified professional.
Users remain solely responsible for evaluating the information available, selecting a professional and deciding whether a service is appropriate for them.
In the event of a medical or psychological emergency, the User must contact the appropriate emergency services or a qualified healthcare provider. The Platform must not be used as an emergency service.
4. Client Account
A User may browse public sections of the Platform without creating an account.
However, a client account is required to:
- request or manage an appointment;
- submit, edit or manage a review;
- access account-related communications or features;
- use any other function expressly reserved for registered Users.
To create an account, the User may be required to provide information including:
- their name;
- email address;
- telephone number, where required;
- password or authentication credentials;
- preferred language;
- appointment-related information;
- other information reasonably necessary to provide the requested service.
The User agrees to provide information that is accurate, current and complete.
The User must not:
- create an account using another person’s identity;
- provide false or misleading information;
- allow another person to use their account;
- create multiple accounts to manipulate reviews or Platform activity.
5. Personal Data and Account Creation
By creating an account, the User requests access to the Platform’s registered-user services and acknowledges that Althera Connect must process certain personal data to:
- create and authenticate the account;
- secure and administer the account;
- enable appointment requests;
- enable the publication and management of reviews;
- transmit necessary information to the selected professional;
- send operational messages concerning the account, appointments, reviews or Platform security;
- prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access;
- comply with applicable legal obligations;
- respond to requests and provide support.
Provision of the information identified as mandatory is necessary to create and operate the account. If the User does not provide this information, Althera Connect may be unable to create the account or provide the requested feature.
Personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable Mauritian data protection law.
Where processing is based on the User’s consent, such consent will be requested separately and for a specified purpose. Consent to marketing communications is optional and is not a condition of creating an account, requesting an appointment or submitting a review.
6. Account Security
The User is responsible for:
- keeping their password and authentication credentials confidential;
- using a secure password;
- preventing unauthorised access to their account;
- promptly informing Althera Connect of suspected unauthorised use.
Any action performed through an authenticated account may be treated as having been initiated by the account holder, unless Althera Connect has been informed of unauthorised access.
Althera Connect may temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the account, other Users or the Platform.
7. Eligibility and Minors
Users creating an account must have the legal capacity to accept these Terms.
A person under the age of 18 must not independently create an account, request an appointment or submit a review unless permitted by applicable law and authorised by a parent or legal guardian.
Althera Connect may request reasonable evidence of age or authority where necessary.
The Platform is not intended to collect personal data directly from children without appropriate authorisation.
8. Appointment Requests
The Platform may allow a registered User to request an appointment with a listed professional.
The User acknowledges that:
- an appointment request is not necessarily a confirmed appointment;
- confirmation, modification or cancellation may depend on the professional;
- the professional remains solely responsible for availability and delivery of the service;
- Althera Connect provides only the technical booking interface;
- Althera Connect is not a party to the professional relationship or service agreement.
Information necessary to process the appointment request may be transmitted to the selected professional.
Users should not enter detailed medical records, diagnoses or highly sensitive health information into a general appointment field unless the Platform expressly requests it and provides an appropriate secure mechanism.
Althera Connect does not guarantee that a professional will accept, confirm or attend an appointment.
9. Cancellations and Appointment Disputes
Cancellation, rescheduling, lateness, fees and refund conditions may be determined by the individual professional.
The User is responsible for reviewing any terms communicated by the professional before receiving or paying for a service.
Any dispute relating to an appointment or service must primarily be addressed directly between the User and the professional.
Althera Connect may provide reasonable technical assistance but is not required to resolve the underlying professional or financial dispute.
10. Reviews
Only registered Users may submit reviews through the Platform.
A review must:
- relate to a genuine personal experience;
- be accurate and submitted in good faith;
- concern the relevant professional or service;
- respect the dignity, privacy and rights of others;
- comply with applicable law.
Reviews must not contain:
- false or misleading statements;
- defamatory, threatening or abusive content;
- discriminatory or hateful content;
- private or confidential information;
- personal health information belonging to another person;
- advertising, spam or undisclosed promotional material;
- content submitted in exchange for an undisclosed benefit;
- content copied from another source without authorisation.
The User remains responsible for the content of their review.
Althera Connect may moderate, refuse, suspend or remove a review where it reasonably believes that the review violates these Terms, applicable law or the rights of another person.
Althera Connect is not obliged to verify every statement contained in a review.
Professionals may be permitted to respond to reviews. Any response remains the responsibility of the professional who submits it.
11. Relationship with Professionals
Any relationship established between a User and a professional is direct and independent.
Except for providing the Platform’s technical features, Althera Connect:
- is not a party to any agreement between the User and the professional;
- does not supervise the delivery of professional services;
- does not determine the professional’s methods, advice or recommendations;
- does not guarantee availability, quality, safety or results;
- is not responsible for payments made directly to a professional.
The professional remains solely responsible for their services, conduct, legal obligations and relationship with the User.
12. Professional Information and Verified Badges
Althera Connect may review certain identity, qualification, registration or supporting documents provided by professionals.
A “Verified” badge means only that Althera Connect has completed the document-review process applicable at the relevant time.
It does not constitute:
- governmental or regulatory certification;
- professional accreditation;
- endorsement or recommendation;
- a guarantee of competence, conduct, quality, safety or results.
Users should make their own enquiries and may request further information directly from the professional before using a service.
13. Accuracy and Availability of Information
Althera Connect takes reasonable steps to maintain the Platform but does not guarantee that:
- every listing is complete or error-free;
- all professional information is continuously current;
- every qualification or statement remains valid after review;
- the Platform will always be available without interruption;
- every message or appointment request will be delivered instantaneously.
Users must independently assess information that is material to their decisions.
14. User Conduct
Users must not:
- use the Platform for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;
- impersonate another person;

- introduce malware or harmful code;
- scrape, harvest or systematically extract Platform data without authorisation;
- misuse professional or User contact information;
- harass, threaten or abuse another User or professional;
- manipulate appointments, ratings or reviews;
- submit information that infringes privacy, confidentiality or intellectual property rights.
15. Operational Communications
Users with an account may receive service-related communications concerning:
- account creation and security;
- email verification or password recovery;
- appointment requests, confirmations, changes or cancellations;
- review submission or moderation;
- important Platform notices;
- changes materially affecting the service.
These operational communications are necessary for the functioning and security of the requested services and are distinct from optional marketing communications.
16. Account Suspension and Termination
Althera Connect may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary:
- following a breach of these Terms;
- to prevent fraud, abuse or security risks;
- to protect Users, professionals or the Platform;
- to comply with a legal obligation;
- where an account remains inactive for an extended period;
- where continued access may expose Althera Connect or another person to harm or liability.
Where reasonably possible, the User will be informed of the restriction or termination.
The User may request closure of their account by contacting Althera Connect.
Account closure may prevent access to appointment history, reviews and other account features. Certain information may nevertheless be retained where necessary for legal compliance, dispute management, fraud prevention or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
17. Intellectual Property
The Platform, including its branding, design, software, databases, text, graphics and original content, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except where expressly authorised, Users may not:
- reproduce;
- copy;
- modify;
- distribute;
- commercially exploit;
- systematically extract
any protected element of the Platform.
Users retain responsibility for content they submit. By submitting a review or other content intended for publication, the User grants Althera Connect a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, display and moderate that content solely for operating, promoting and improving the Platform.
This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where continued retention or display is legally required or technically necessary for a limited backup period.
18. Third-Party Services
The Platform may use or link to third-party services, including hosting, authentication, mapping, scheduling, email, notification, analytics or payment services.
These services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Althera Connect is not responsible for third-party content or services that it does not control, but will select and manage its service providers in accordance with applicable obligations.
19. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Althera Connect shall not be liable for:
- acts or omissions of listed professionals;
- advice, treatment or services provided by professionals;
- the outcome of any professional service;
- a professional’s refusal, cancellation, lateness or unavailability;
- User-generated reviews or responses;
- loss caused by inaccurate information supplied by a User or professional;
- indirect, incidental or consequential losses;
- loss of opportunity, reputation, business or data;
- unauthorised account access caused by the User’s failure to protect their credentials;
- events outside Althera Connect’s reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Mauritian law.
20. No Warranty
The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Althera Connect makes no warranty regarding uninterrupted availability, accuracy, reliability, compatibility or fitness for a particular purpose.
21. Force Majeure
Althera Connect shall not be liable for delay, interruption or failure caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, telecommunications failures, cyber incidents, governmental action, labour disputes or failures of third-party infrastructure.
22. Amendments
Althera Connect may update these Terms to reflect changes to:
- the Platform or its features;
- legal or regulatory requirements;
- security or operational practices.
The revised Terms will state their effective date.
Where changes materially affect registered Users, Althera Connect may provide notice through the Platform or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
23. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Mauritius.
Subject to any mandatory legal rights or applicable dispute-resolution requirements, the courts of Mauritius shall have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Platform.
